Creative Construction:
Blueprints, Bridges and Model Museums

Budding architects within the Creative Construction: Blueprints, Bridges and Model Museums strand will delve into the world of structures when a group of international investors commissions them to submit an original design and model for a new NYSP museum. Students will begin with an exploration of the fundamentals of architecture, studying well-known buildings and monuments while drawing historical connections from technical and aesthetic perspectives. Using authentic principles of design and engineering, science and art, scholars will devise experiments to test mobiles, columns, domes and bridges of their own construction. Scholars will incorporate these design concepts into a 3D model of the proposed museum.

In addition to the Creative Construction Strand, you'll be participating in The Leadership Strand: Stepping Forward as a Leader. The Leadership Strand is the cornerstone of the NYSP experience. Daily interactive learning activities present scholars with guided practice and individual application in small team settings. The important concepts and skills introduced lay the groundwork for growth and personal development in five key leadership areas: Teambuilding, Character Development, Communication, Problem-Solving and Goal Setting.
